Copying Your Data Files

Sometimes it may be necessary to move your company's Medical Outlook data files to a new location on your network.  Reasons could be things like:

Moving data files to a disk with more storage space OR
While evaluating Medical Outlook you had installed the files on your local computer and now need to move them to a shared folder on your network so that other people can use Medical Outlook.

Whatever the reason, moving your data files from one location to another is a relatively simple, painless operation.  The only thing to keep in mind is that it may take a bit of time based on how large your current installation is.

Configuration Example 3: Moving your data files

***Warning***

Before you move your Medical Outlook data files to another folder you must first make sure that no one is logged in to Medical Outlook.  If you are currently logged in, you should cancel this process, close all open Medical Outlook windows and then begin this process again.

Depending on how many users there are in your company, how big their mailboxes are, etc. this process could take quite a bit of time so be prepared for that.

After the process is completed ONLY THE COMPUTER YOU ARE USING will be configured to access the Medical Outlook data at the new location.  After completion you will need run the Medical Outlook Configuration program on every computer that uses Medical Outlook choosing the "Attach to an Existing Setup" option.

Finally, while this option will COPY all of your data files from one location to another, it will only DELETE your main data file index in the original location.  You should manually delete all of the files and folders from the old location AFTER you have successfully completed this process and logged into Medical Outlook using the new location.

Other Alternatives:

All that this process does is COPY your data files and folder structure from one location to another.  You can certainly accomplish the same thing in MS Windows Explorer by simply copying ALL of the files and folders from their current location to your desired new location elsewhere on your network or computer.

After doing this you will need run the Medical Outlook Configuration program on every computer that uses Medical Outlook choosing the "Attach to an Existing Setup" option.
