Choose Data Folder

In this step you will choose where you wish the configuration program to store your Medical Outlook database files.  If you are setting up your company for the first time the default folder is "C:\SPINData\".  If this is satisfactory you can just click the 'Next' button to continue.  To choose a different folder click the button in the center of the window and you will be prompted to browse for another folder either on your computer or on your network.

Important considerations when choosing your data folder

If you are setting up Medical Outlook for multiple users you will probably NOT want to install your company data files on your C:\ drive.  Normally for multi-user installations the Medical Outlook database files would be stored in a shared folder somewhere on your Local Area Network.

Wherever you decide to have the configuration program store your data files you make sure of several things:

1.Make sure there's plenty of disk space available.  How much?  We don't know.  That depends on many things like a) How many users will be working in Medical Outlook b) How much traffic (how many packages) will your company be sending or receiving.  A simple Medical Outlook package requires 2-3 kb of hard disk space but can be quite large (5-10 mb or greater) depending on the contents.
2.Make sure that all users have adequate security rights to Add, Create, Delete, Modify files and folders in your data folder (If you're installing on a Network, your network administrator can help you here).
3.Remember you can always move your data files to another location using this configuration program (see Moving Your Data Files for further information on how to do this).
